Goal Setting 2017

Video Blog:

If you want to be successful in both business and in life, you will need to take time for some goal setting: set targets and have metrics in place to monitor these goals on a regular basis to track your progress.

Select a target to aim at. Then, reverse engineer your goals by counting back each month from your 1-year and 5-year goals and track your progress. Take time to regularly create and review your goals for success.

Happy New Year!

  1. When you reverse engineer and set action steps for each day, week, month, you can use these benchmarks not only to see what you’ve achieved but also to evaluate what is or isn’t working. That way you make continuous adjustments. It’s also good to make sure your goals are in alignment with your values.

  2. Dr. Ivan, thank you for your message. I’m a BNI member and I must tell you getting into BNI was the most amazing and transforming achievement I had in 2016. When you talk about goals for life, I’d like to share a recent experience I had setting goals with my 10 years old twins. In the last days of 2015, I asked them: “What do you plan to change in the coming year?” and “What do you want us (your parents) to change?”. Among other things, they said they “We want you to complain less with us”. And we said we would try but, on the other hand, we expected them to give us less reasons to complain. Now, we asked them if we all succeeded. And we all felt very happy to learn that the answer was a big “Yes!”. We’ve already set new goals for 2017. Mine is to be a better father. Now, I’ll check how can I measure that, month after month. Thank you very much.
